Whom Are You Dealing with Here?
I am a relationship therapist and coach, with over 25 years of experience working with couples and individuals. Over those years, I have written a great deal about marriage and couple relationships. Much of what I have written is available on my Internet site, http://www.marriagesupport.com.
I am also husband, father, friend, lover of the sea and rural places, the world’s soul music, kayaking, good talk and much else.
I seek to hear my own calling and follow it the best that I can. I want to help Lighten the world, open my heart more and more, do the work that seems to be mine to do – and take the work seriously but not myself. (My favorite saying is “Angels fly because they take themselves lightly.”)
What are my credentials? The academic ones: B.A. from Wesleyan University, Connecticut; M.A. from the University of California, Berkeley; MSW from University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana; PhD (in Education) from The Johns Hopkins University. The professional ones: Maine state license as a Clinical Social Worker, Clinical Member, American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy. The experience ones: 26 years married to Joyce Wilson-Sanford, father/stepfather of 5 children whom Joyce and I raised together, 25 years private-practice experience as a therapist and coach, specializing in marriage and relationships, 700+ published columns (“Marriage Matters,” “Partners”); book on learning how to love, nearing completion.
